Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing, a type of alternative medicine. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a "universal energy" is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.

Reiki is an energy healing technique in which a Reiki master (who has undergone formal training in this healing art) uses gentle hand movements with the intention to guide the flow of healthy energy (what's known in Reiki as life force energy) through the client's body to reduce stress and promote healing.

People use reiki to decrease pain, ease muscle tension, speed healing, and improve sleep. Reiki is sometimes used to help people who suffer from pain or discomfort from cancer or other diseases.

They experience immediate pain relief for chronic pain sufferers as well as immediate stress reduction, lower blood pressure and so much more. It is truly and honor and privilege to be in this sacred healing space with you.

  • Reading out loud to patients

  • An advance directive is a legal document spelling out one’s end-of-life wishes. The document contains two parts:

  • A Living Will stating the type of medical treatment one does and does not wish to receive at the end of life.
  • A Healthcare Proxy, naming an advocate in the event that a person is no longer able to make healthcare decisions themselves.
  • A list of passwords and where to find them for important accounts with specific instructions.
  • States clearly what the individual’s wishes are for funeral, cremation or green burial options.
  • A legacy project is something you create for your loved ones to remember you by. This can also be a “life review” for individuals. These can be as big or small as you’d like. They can be a scrapbook of memories and photographs. It could be a digital video or videos we create together to give to specific loved ones. Or it could simply be a written letter. I have found these provide peace for those at the end of life.

This is to provide short term relief for the caregivers of the patient. We can sit bedside and assist in moving positions in the bed to avoid bed sores. We can cook and do light housework and assist with pets as well. This can be a huge relief for caregivers. It’s just as important for them to take breaks and practice self care. The dying process can be a slow process.

Healing Hearts House will work with individuals and their families and discuss all of the options for honoring your loved one once they do pass. Some folks choose a traditional funeral service with a funeral home. This may include a casket or a cremation. Times have certainly changed in what we can do with our loved ones ashes once they have passed. Some choose traditional urns while others choose to have the ashes turned into a piece of beautiful jewelry or special art. There are also several Green Burial options now where the body is basically turned into natural compost and is the put back into the Earth.
